Send money to Czechia from Canada
What actually arrives in Czechia
Read this part before anything else. Grey does not convert into Czech koruna. What reaches the recipient is a euro credit into their Czech IBAN, delivered over SEPA, and their own bank decides what happens next: hold it in euro, or convert it at the bank's own rate on the day.
For some recipients that is exactly right. A contractor or small company in Prague or Brno that already invoices in euro, a Czech account holder with a euro sub account, a student whose landlord or school takes euro, an expatriate working in Czechia on a euro salary. For a grandparent in Ostrava who has only ever seen koruna, it is worth a phone call first to check the bank will take a euro credit without fuss.
Everything else works the way you would expect. One conversion on your side, an IBAN on theirs, no Grey account needed at the receiving end, and the rate fixed at the moment you confirm.

What a transfer to Czechia costs you
There is a second cost on this corridor that is not Grey's, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. If your recipient wants koruna in the end, their Czech bank converts the euro credit at its own rate, on its own terms, and that conversion is between them and their bank.
Which is why this route is at its best when the euro stays euro. A recipient invoicing in euro, or holding a euro account, pays one conversion in total. A recipient who converts to koruna on arrival pays two, and should compare it against what else is available to them locally.

How the rate to euro is fixed

One conversion takes place, on your side, when you confirm. Grey shows the rate and the fee together beforehand, and the euro total that appears there is what reaches the Czech account.
Nothing changes after the fact. The number you agreed is the number that settles, which is what makes a recurring payment to Prague predictable to budget for.

Five things worth knowing about this route
Check one thing with your recipient: that their Czech bank will accept a euro credit and that they are content to hold it or convert it themselves. If the answer is yes, this route is quick and the cost is visible.
