Send money from Qatar to Bulgaria
Euro into Bulgaria, which is now simply the currency
This used to be a two currency problem. It is not any more. Bulgaria joined the euro on 1 January 2026, the lev is behind it, and what Grey delivers into a Bulgarian account is a euro credit over SEPA, in the money the country now uses every day.
Practically, that means the same thing as sending to any other eurozone country. Your Grey balance converts to euro once before the payment leaves Doha, and the Bulgarian bank applies nothing further when it lands. There is no local conversion left to do and no second margin waiting at the far end.
UniCredit Bulbank, DSK Bank, Postbank and the rest all take the credit on the IBAN. Your recipient needs no Grey account and does nothing but check the balance.

Where the money goes on a Bulgarian transfer
What remains is one conversion, from your Grey balance into euro, shown with the fee before you confirm. The euro credited in Sofia is the euro you were quoted in Doha.
If you are holding US dollars in Qatar, the dollar to euro rate is the only place a margin can sit on this route. Reading that one number carefully is the whole of the comparison you need to make.

Fixed at confirmation, in euro

The euro figure locks the moment you confirm in Doha, and the market does not get a second attempt at it.
For a Bulgarian household this removes an old annoyance. Under the lev, the amount arriving depended partly on what a Bulgarian bank decided to do with it on the day. Now the amount you agree to in Doha is the amount that shows in the account in Plovdiv, with no local step in between.
A euro balance paying a Bulgarian IBAN skips even that decision. Nothing converts at all.
