Send money to the United Kingdom from Kuwait
Pounds out of a pound balance, or dollars converted once
Be clear about where the conversion sits, because on this corridor it is not always there. If you hold pounds in Grey, sending to a UK account is a sterling payment out of a sterling balance and Grey converts nothing. If you hold dollars or euro, one conversion into sterling happens, at the rate you see and accept before confirming.
The sender here is usually on contract. Oil and gas, aviation, education, healthcare and engineering consultancy bring people to Kuwait on terms of two or three years, often with the household finances left running in Britain: a mortgage on a house that is let out, school fees by the term, a parent's care costs, an insurance policy that does not pause because you moved.
There is a second reader on this route who is not British at all. Plenty of professionals in Kuwait, particularly from India and across South Asia, have a son or a daughter at a UK university, which means tuition instalments and rent in sterling on dates set by somebody else.

What it costs to put pounds in a UK account
An exchange company in Kuwait will convert dinar to sterling and price that conversion into the rate at the counter. If your income already arrives in dollars or pounds, you are paying for a conversion you may not need, or paying for two where one would do. That is the part worth checking before comparing anything else.
The dinar also flatters a margin. It is the highest valued currency unit in the world, so a difference that looks like rounding when expressed against a dinar is a real sum in pounds by the time it reaches a UK account. On a payment made every month for three years, that difference is the whole comparison.

When a rate applies, and when it does not

Sending pounds from a pound balance involves no exchange rate. Nothing is converted, so nothing can move between the moment you agree and the moment the money lands.
Sending from dollars or euro means one conversion into sterling, shown before you confirm and fixed at that point. The sterling figure on screen is the figure that reaches the UK bank, with no adjustment after the fact.
Since the dinar is managed against a dollar weighted basket rather than pegged outright, your side can look unmoved for months while what you are actually charged shifts underneath. Holding the currency you are paid in, then converting once at a rate you have seen, is how you take that question out of a recurring payment.

Why senders in Kuwait use Grey for the UK
The question on this corridor is not really how fast it moves. It is how many conversions the money goes through between your salary and a UK account, and whether you were shown each one.
