Mining services, and a community that is genuinely here
Mexico is not a large corridor out of Australia, and pretending otherwise would be no use to anyone reading this. What it does have is a specific and durable reason to exist. Australian mining services, engineering and technical consulting firms work in Mexico, and the people and companies behind that work move money in both directions: contractor pay, site costs, equipment and professional fees.
Alongside that there is a small Mexican community in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, plus Australians who have married into Mexican families or spend part of each year there. The volume is modest. The reasons are not.
Grey pays Mexican pesos into a bank account over SPEI, the domestic instant payment network Mexican banks already use. You enter the recipient's 18-digit CLABE and the pesos credit that account. No Grey account is needed at the Mexican end.
Three steps to a Mexican bank account

What the transfer costs
Most senders here are paying to a number rather than sending what they can spare. A day rate, an invoice, a site cost. The rate matters because it decides whether the number is met.
Compare on the pesos that land in the Mexican account. The advertised fee is only half the picture, and on a larger payment it is usually the smaller half.

How the fixed rate works

The rate on the confirmation screen is applied to your transfer and does not change afterwards. The peso figure you are shown is the one that credits the CLABE.
Time zones make that genuinely useful here. Mexico is most of a day behind eastern Australia, so a payment confirmed on a Wednesday evening in Perth is being received on a Wednesday morning in Monterrey. Knowing the peso amount at the point of sending saves a conversation that would otherwise take two days to finish.

A Grey account is free to open, takes about five minutes and needs a valid identity document. Add the CLABE once and later payments are a confirmation screen.
