Send money to Mexico from the United States
Send money to Mexico, straight to any bank account
When you send money to Mexico through Grey, the transfer goes directly into your recipient's bank account in pesos. BBVA México, Santander México, Banorte, Banamex, and HSBC México are all supported. Enter the account number, confirm the rate and fee, and send.
Your recipient does not need a Grey account. The money arrives as a standard MXN credit in their bank app, the same way any domestic transfer would. Most transfers from a funded Grey balance arrive within minutes.
The total cost of a transfer is the fee and the exchange rate together. Some services advertise zero fees but mark up the rate. On a $1,000 transfer, a 2% rate markup costs more than a $20 fee. Grey shows both numbers on the same screen before you tap Send.

How much does it cost to send money to Mexico
Every transfer from the US to Mexico involves two costs: the visible fee and the exchange rate margin. Most services hide their margin in the rate, so a transfer advertised as zero fees can quietly cost more than one with a transparent fee.
The exchange rate is usually the bigger factor on larger transfers. On a USD 500 transfer, a 1% rate difference changes the peso amount your recipient receives by roughly 83 MXN. A provider advertising no fee but applying a 2% rate markup costs more than one charging USD 5 with a rate close to the mid-market.
Grey shows the fee and the exchange rate separately before you tap Send. The pesos amount your recipient will receive is on screen before you confirm. The rate shown is the rate applied. There are no adjustments after the fact.

How exchange rates work: USD to MXN

The USD to MXN exchange rate determines more of the final peso amount than the fee does. On a USD 500 transfer, a 1% difference in the rate changes what your recipient receives by roughly 90 MXN. On monthly remittances, that gap compounds quickly.
Grey shows you the live USD to MXN rate before you confirm. The rate displayed is the rate applied. There is no adjustment after you send.
Some providers quote the mid-market rate but charge a visible fee on top. Others charge no fee but mark up the rate by 1-3%. Grey separates both numbers so you can compare the actual total cost before committing.
