Send money to Hungary, straight to any bank account
When you send money to Hungary through Grey, the transfer goes directly into your recipient's bank account in euros. OTP Bank, K&H Bank, and Raiffeisen Bank Hungary are all supported. Enter the account details, confirm the rate and fee, and send.
Your recipient does not need a Grey account. The euros arrive in their banking app typically within minutes of you confirming. No branch visit, no wire forms, no delays.
The total cost of a transfer is the fee and the exchange rate together. Some services advertise zero fees but mark up the rate. On a $1,000 transfer, a 2% rate markup costs more than a $20 fee. Grey shows both numbers on the same screen before you tap Send.

How much does it cost to send money to Hungary
Every transfer from the US to Hungary involves two costs: the visible fee and the exchange rate margin. Most services hide their margin in the rate, so a transfer advertised as zero fees can quietly cost more than one with a transparent fee.
The exchange rate is usually the bigger factor on larger transfers. On a USD 500 transfer, a 1% rate difference changes the forint amount your recipient receives by roughly 1,800 HUF. A provider advertising no fee but applying a 2% rate markup costs more than one charging USD 5 with a rate close to the mid-market.
Grey shows the fee and the exchange rate separately before you tap Send. The forint amount your recipient will receive is on screen before you confirm. The rate shown is the rate applied. There are no adjustments after the fact.
How exchange rates work: USD to HUF
The USD to EUR exchange rate determines how many euros your recipient receives. On a USD 1,000 transfer, a 1% difference in the rate changes the EUR amount significantly. On recurring or large transfers, that gap compounds.
Grey shows the live USD to EUR rate before you confirm. The rate on screen is the rate applied. Grey charges a 1% conversion fee capped at $6, and a 0.5% withdrawal fee (minimum €2, capped at €10), both shown before you send.
EUR is a Group A currency in Grey's fee structure, which means the conversion fee is capped at $6 regardless of the transfer amount. On a USD 1,000 transfer, the effective conversion fee is 0.6%, not 1%.
