How British senders reach Chile
Start from the recipient's side. Someone in Santiago needs a fixed sum in Chilean pesos by a fixed date, and they bank with Banco de Chile or another local bank. Spain and Germany have deep ties with Chile, and European firms pay Chilean contractors in pesos.
Grey works backwards from that: enter the CLP figure, see the GBP cost from London, and send. The rate holds.
How sending to Chile works

One passport or BRP and a few minutes is all it takes to open Grey in London. Grey works with regulated partners in the UK.
Fund
Move pounds in by Faster Payments from any UK bank from Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Monzo or any UK bank. Or send from USD, EUR or GBP you already hold on Grey.
Send
Chile asks for the recipient's RUT alongside their bank and account number. Enter all three, confirm the CLP amount, and send.
Two numbers, both shown first
With Grey, a sender in London sees three numbers before confirming: the GBP debited, the fee, and the CLP that reaches Santiago. None of them change afterwards.

CLP amount held from send to settlement

Enter the CLP amount first if the recipient's figure is what matters. Grey shows the GBP cost from London and locks it.
The person at Banco de Chile sees exactly the sum you agreed.

The corridor most banks won't touch
Between London and Santiago, the problem is well known. Ask a bank to send Chilean pesos and you'll usually be told to send dollars and let the recipient sort it out. That pushes the cost onto the person in Santiago. From London, Grey does the conversion transparently and delivers CLP as a domestic credit at Banco de Chile or any other bank.
On the receiving side
The CLP posts directly to the recipient's own account at any Chilean bank, including Banco de Chile, BancoEstado, Santander Chile, BCI. To them it looks like a domestic credit. The sender in Manchester sees it settle in the app.

Works with every Chilean bank
From Banco de Chile to the smallest regional lender.

Looks local to them
A CLP deposit on their statement, nothing more.

Grey optional on their side
Unless they want GreyTag, which is instant and free.
Topping up in London
UK senders fund by Faster Payments from Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest or Monzo. The pound balance sits on Grey until the transfer is due. Then Santiago is a conversion and a tap.
From Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Monzo or any UK bank
Faster Payments from any UK bank, credited in minutes.
From foreign clients
USD, EUR or GBP paid into Grey converts to CLP in one step.
From GreyTag
Another Grey user in the UK or abroad can fund you instantly.
For a British sender, being able to convert to CLP at the exact moment you choose is worth more than any fee saving.
Who sends from the UK to Chile
Trade
Payments to Chilean exporters of wine, fruit and mining services.
Students
Living costs for students at Universidad de Chile, PUC and Universidad de Concepción.
Freelancers and contractors
Payments to Chilean developers, designers and consultants in pesos.
Family
Support for relatives in Santiago, Valparaíso and Concepción.
Spain and Germany have deep ties with Chile, and European firms pay Chilean contractors in pesos. What they share, from London to Valparaíso, is a payment that repeats and a recipient who needs an exact CLP figure.
What you get on the Chile route
A corridor like the UK to Chile is won on the tenth transfer, not the first. The tenth is where a bad rate has quietly cost a sender in London a month's worth of Chilean pesos.
Nothing is deducted on arrival. What Banco de Chile credits is the CLP figure you saw in London. [VERIFY CLP local payout live: Notion DB says No, Slack May 12 says testing complete]
